Poem #10: Nyctophobia

Step outside under the dim light of the moon.

Let the dark abyss wrap around you like a cloak.

Terror will well within your heart

And your hands will tremble

For no one likes being unable to see

No one likes the uncertainty that comes with the darkness,

The chance, made real, that perhaps monsters exist.

But don’t be afraid; starlight, however small, will be your salvation.

Only under the darkest sky can one see the stars.

And only by the stars can we find our north,

Our way home.
